At Gaiety Theatre · South King Street, Dublin 2
The Beekeeper of Aleppo comes to Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre from 28 April to 2 May 2026 for five nights. Adapted from Christy Lefteri’s bestselling novel by Nesrin Alrefaai and Matthew Spangler, the production tells the story of Nuri, a beekeeper, and his wife Afra, an artist, who live a quiet, rich life in Syria until war destroys everything they know and love.
What follows is their journey as asylum seekers from Aleppo to England, told with extraordinary compassion and theatrical imagination. Lefteri’s novel won the Aspen Words Award and was one of the most widely read books about the Syrian refugee experience; this stage adaptation brings a further dimension of immediacy and human presence to a story that demands to be witnessed.
Age guidance is 14 and over. The production deals with themes of war, displacement, loss and mental illness with care and honesty.
The Gaiety Theatre is on South King Street in Dublin 2, a short walk from St Stephen’s Green Luas stop. Multiple Dublin Bus routes serve the area. No on-site parking; nearest car parks on Drury Street and Setanta Place.
