The Beta Band at Vicar Street

At Vicar Street · 58-59 Thomas Street, Dublin 8

The Beta Band at Vicar Street Dublin

The Beta Band are back on a stage for the first time since 2004, and one of those rare comeback dates lands at Vicar Street on 22 July 2026. The Scottish cult band - formed in 1996 and disbanded after their third album Heroes to Zeroes - spent two decades away before returning to play sold-out UK and US tours that drew critical praise for an uncompromising, full-force live show. This Dublin date, promoted by Foggy Notions, is part of that same run. If you were a fan the first time around, or if you came to The Three EPs, Hot Shots II or the self-titled album later and wondered what you missed, this is that chance.

What to expect

The Beta Band made records that sat outside any easy category - sample-heavy but melodic, strange but immediate, and consistently odd in the best way. Nick Hornby used them in High Fidelity to illustrate the moment a song stops a room and makes everyone want to own it. That quality, of music that operates on its own frequency, carries into their live show. The reunion run has been praised precisely because the band have not softened the material to make it more approachable. Expect songs from across their catalogue, including work from The Three EPs - their 1998 compilation of early singles that built much of their original following. Doors at Vicar Street open at 7:30pm for an 8:00pm show.

Note: the Foggy Notions listing shows this date as sold out. Check Ticketmaster for any ticket releases, or look at resale platforms such as Twickets for face-value returns.

Getting there

Vicar Street is at 58-59 Thomas Street in Dublin 8, in the Liberties. It opened in 1998 and holds around 1,500 for standing shows - large enough to draw major acts, small enough that you are never far from the stage. By public transport, the Luas Red Line stops at Four Courts, roughly a ten-minute walk away. Dublin Bus routes 13, 40 and 123 all serve Thomas Street. Parking in the immediate area is limited on a Wednesday evening; the Jervis Street multi-storey or parking around Smithfield are reasonable options if driving.

While you’re in Dublin

Thomas Street sits at the edge of the Liberties, one of the oldest parts of the city, with the Irish Museum of Modern Art and Guinness Storehouse both within easy reach. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
