Led by Dr Jane O’Brien, this 70-minute walking tour explores the winding streets, narrow bow-ways and historic buildings of Ennis, a market town with more than 800 years of history. The route covers the 13th-century Ennis Friary (a Franciscan foundation of the O’Brien dynasty), the medieval street network, Ireland’s oldest timber-framed house and monuments connected to the town’s rebel and revolutionary past. Tours run during the high season from May to October on most weekdays at 11am. Pre-booking is advised as places are limited.
Ennis town centre is served by regular Bus Eireann services from Limerick, Galway and Clare towns. The meeting point is within walking distance of all town-centre car parks.
