Cushendall Artisan Market

At Boat Club Car Park · Coast Road, Cushendall, Co. Antrim, BT44 0RH

Artisan market stalls at Cushendall Boat Club with Lurigethan in the background

Every Sunday that Naturally North Coast and Glens (NNCG) sets up in Cushendall, the Boat Club Car Park on the Coast Road turns into one of the better ways to spend a morning on the Antrim coast. The stalls face out towards the sea, with Lurigethan rising behind the village, and the whole thing runs from 11am to 4pm with free entry. It suits anyone who wants to browse proper handmade goods without a ticket price, and it is an easy add-on to a drive along the Causeway Coastal Route.

What to expect

NNCG is a not-for-profit social enterprise, and their rule for stallholders is straightforward: you must grow, make, rear, craft, design or bake what you sell. That filters out the import-and-resell stalls that dilute a lot of markets. On any given NNCG market day in Cushendall you are likely to find ceramics, handcrafted gifts, wood turning, local produce and speciality food, cosmetics made in small batches, garden products and street food. The range of stalls shifts from market to market, but the producer-only standard holds. Bring cash - some traders cannot run card machines reliably at this site due to patchy mobile signal. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Getting there

Cushendall sits on the A2 Causeway Coastal Route in the Glens of Antrim, roughly 35 minutes north of Larne and about an hour from Belfast via the A8 and then the coast road through Larne. The Boat Club Car Park is on the Coast Road at the northern edge of the village - you will see the market as you arrive. Parking at the venue itself is limited on market days, so arriving early helps. Additional parking is available in the village, a short walk away. There is no direct rail link to Cushendall; the nearest practical public transport is the Ulsterbus service from Ballymena, which serves the village.

While you’re in Cushendall

The village is the main settlement of the Glens of Antrim and a good base for walking the surrounding headlands and glens. The Red Bay pier and the ruins of Layde Old Church are both within easy reach on foot. There is more to see in Cushendall and across Co. Antrim.
