At Longford Slashers GAA Club · Farneyhoogan, Longford, Co. Longford
Longford-born choreographer Marguerite Donlon, whose career has taken her from the Bolshoi Ballet to companies across Germany and Europe, returns home to lead a five-day dance and music camp at Longford Slashers GAA Club from Friday 14 to Tuesday 18 August 2026. Working alongside musician and composer Giacomo, Donlon runs the workshop for two age groups, juniors aged 7 to 12 and seniors aged 13 to 99, with no previous dance experience required.
Juniors attend from 10.30am to 1.30pm and seniors from 2pm to 6.30pm each day, working through dance, improvisation and music to build an original piece from scratch. Giacomo composes an electronic score with the group as the week progresses, and participants design their own costumes for a final showing at the end of the camp. The approach favours imagination and collaboration over formal technique, drawing on the kind of workshops Donlon has run internationally as part of a choreographic career that has included the Bolshoi Ballet and companies across Germany and Europe. Places are priced at €110 for juniors, with a reduced €90 rate for additional siblings, and €120 for seniors, covering the full five days of the camp.
Longford Slashers GAA Club is at Farneyhoogan on the edge of Longford town, close to the Backstage Theatre, and is signposted from the town centre.
A week built around home-grown talent is a good reason to explore more of the town Donlon herself grew up in. There is more to see in Longford and across Co. Longford.
