What to Expect

DC Tours’ “A History of Terror” is a 2.5-hour guided walking tour covering 1.5 miles through Belfast city centre. The tour visits the locations of major events from the most turbulent period of the conflict in the early 1970s, presented from a neutral civilian perspective. Guides also cover how peace was achieved and how the city has transformed since the Good Friday Agreement. The tour ends on the banks of the Lagan near the Beacon of Hope sculpture. Tours run daily at 10:30am, year-round except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and 12 July.

  • Duration: approximately 2 hours 30 minutes; 1.5 miles on mostly flat ground.

  • Meeting point: front gates of Belfast City Hall, Donegall Square North.

  • Tours without bookings by 6pm the evening before will not run - book in advance to guarantee a place.

  • Tours regularly sell out at weekends; advance booking strongly recommended.

Getting There

Belfast City Hall is in Donegall Square in the city centre, a 5-minute walk from Belfast Grand Central Station (Europa Bus Centre) and 10 minutes from Lanyon Place railway station.
