At Brownlow House · Windsor Avenue, Lurgan, Co. Armagh, BT66 7NR

Brownlow House, the Victorian mansion in Lurgan Park

What to Expect

Brownlow House is Lurgan’s grandest secular building, designed by Scottish architect William Playfair and built in the Elizabethan style using freestone imported from Scotland. Guided tours cover the history of the Brownlow family from 1833 to 1895, and the building’s extraordinary role during World War Two when it served as the HQ for American troops stationed in Northern Ireland. The room where Supreme Allied Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower is said to have stayed is named the Eisenhower Room. The house also holds a new interactive WW2 exhibition in the basement. Tours are by prior arrangement.
