Derek Mitchell brings his show Double Dutch: Two to Limerick on 25 June 2026, playing the Kasbah Social Club at Dolans on Dock Road. Mitchell is a Chicago-born comedian based between London and Amsterdam, and he has built a following of close to a million people online through sharp character sketches and satirical takes on Dutch, British and North American life. This is the follow-up to his debut hour, and it picks up where that left off - life between cultures, marrying into Dutchness, and finding meaning in the mess of modern existence. If you like comedy that mixes stand-up with storytelling and character work, and does not shy away from the stranger corners of immigrant life, this is a good night out.
Double Dutch: Two blends stand-up, characters and stories into a single hour-long show. Mitchell has a background in sketch and viral content, but the live show is a proper stand-up hour - the characters serve the storytelling rather than being quick hits. Themes of loneliness and connection run through it, but the tone is comic rather than heavy. The show has picked up five-star reviews from Broadway Baby and Disrupt Mag, and four stars from Fest, The List and The Stage. Doors are at the Kasbah Social Club, which is part of the Dolans complex - a well-established Limerick venue that runs comedy, live music and theatre events. The room is intimate, which suits the kind of character-driven material Mitchell does.
Limerick city is easy to reach by road from most of the country. The N7 connects Dublin to Limerick in under two hours, and the M20 links Cork in roughly the same time. Irish Rail runs regular services from Dublin Heuston, Cork Kent and Galway to Limerick Station on Parnell Street, which is a short walk or a quick taxi ride from Dock Road. Bus Eireann also serves Limerick from most major towns. Dolans is on Dock Road near the river, close to the city centre. Street parking is available in the area in the evening, and there are car parks nearby along the quays.
