Every last Thursday of the month, the Prop Room at the TLT in Drogheda fills up for a comedy club that keeps its cards close to its chest. Al Porter - one of the most reliably funny comics working in Ireland right now - hosts, and the acts are a complete surprise until they walk out on stage. It is the kind of night that suits people who want a proper laugh without having to plan around a specific name on a poster. Good for couples, groups of friends, office nights out, or anyone passing through Drogheda mid-week looking for something worth the trip.
The Prop Room is the TLT’s smaller, more intimate space - a separate room from the main 900-seat auditorium, which gives the night a genuine club atmosphere rather than a big-venue feel. The bar opens at 7pm, giving you an hour to settle in before the show starts at 8pm and runs until around 10:30pm.
Al Porter comperes throughout, and the acts - kept secret right up to showtime - have ranged from Irish stand-up regulars to international names and emerging talent. The TLT has mentioned acts of the calibre of Reginald D Hunter, Tommy Tiernan, and Emma Doran appearing in this format, though who turns up on any given night is part of the appeal. The ticket price is the same regardless of the line-up. You are paying for the experience of a well-run comedy club in good hands, not for a guaranteed headliner.
The night runs monthly - always the last Thursday - so there are three dates in the current window: 25 June, 30 July, and 27 August 2026.
Drogheda is well served by rail from both Dublin and Belfast - the train station is in the town centre, roughly a 15-minute walk or a short taxi ride from the TLT on Matthews Lane at East Coast Business Park. The M1 motorway runs close by; Drogheda is approximately 50km north of Dublin city. If you are driving, East Coast Business Park has parking nearby.
