Foyle Maritime Festival 2026

At River Foyle Waterfront · Queen's Quay, Derry, Co. Derry BT48 7AS

Tall ships moored on the River Foyle for the Foyle Maritime Festival, Derry

What to Expect

The Foyle Maritime Festival is one of the largest free outdoor events on the island of Ireland and the premier maritime event in Northern Ireland. Over four days and nights from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 June 2026, the River Foyle transforms into an international marina. The 2026 edition - themed “Forged by the Foyle” - is expected to draw over 100,000 visitors and includes an expanded programme of new attractions alongside returning favourites.

Visitors can tour the decks of visiting tall ships, including the Galeon Andalucia, a full-scale replica 17th-century Spanish galleon. The “Earhart Eye”, a giant waterfront observation wheel at Queen’s Quay, returns along with circus performances, interactive science experiences, on-the-water activities for all ages, street art, continental markets with award-winning local produce, and multiple live music stages. An illuminated night-time installation called “Sails of Solas” transforms the ships and waterfront after dark. The festival closes on Sunday 28 June with a synchronised fireworks display over the River Foyle.
