At RINKA Ballyshannon · Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal
RINKA runs lively, structured summer camps for children aged 3 to 10 at Studio S, Drumrooske, Ballyshannon, across July and August 2026. If you have a child who needs to burn off energy and pick up some real skills over the summer, this is a well-regarded national programme with a strong local presence in south Donegal. The sessions are split by age group so the activities stay genuinely appropriate - toddler-aged children get a different programme from older kids, rather than being lumped together.
Each camp runs for four days and brings together gymnastics, ball skills, relay races, obstacle courses, dance, parachute games, volleyball, balloon activities and athletics. RINKA works from a non-competitive philosophy - the aim is to get children moving confidently, not to rank them against each other. Group sizes are kept deliberately small so the instructors can give individual attention, and the pace balances high-energy play with movement-to-music sessions and even a brief relaxation slot.
The three Ballyshannon camps in 2026 run on these schedules:
Children should come in comfortable sports clothes and runners. Pack a snack, a water bottle and, for the younger age group, a set of colouring pencils for the RINKA Ru workbook sessions. Sibling discounts are available when booking more than one child.
Ballyshannon sits at the mouth of the River Erne in south Donegal, roughly 25 kilometres south of Donegal Town on the N15. By car it is about two hours from Dublin via the N3/N15, and around 40 minutes from Sligo Town on the N15. Bus Eireann’s Expressway Route 30 (Dublin to Donegal) stops in Ballyshannon, making it reachable by public transport from Dublin, Cavan and Sligo. The venue is at Studio S, Drumrooske, on the outskirts of the town - street parking is generally available in the area.
Ballyshannon is a compact market town with a good main street for coffee and lunch while the camp is running. The Erne estuary and Assaroe Lake are close by and worth a short drive. There is more to see in Ballyshannon and across Co. Donegal.
