At Oakfield Park · Raphoe, Co. Donegal
Oakfest brings two days of live music, food, and open-air fun to the grounds of Oakfield Park on the 5th and 6th of September 2026. It is a proper festival with a proper headline act - The Boomtown Rats, led by Bob Geldof, take the main stage on Saturday night, and the full two-day programme mixes original acts with tribute performances, family entertainment, and food. If you want a festival that feels rooted somewhere real rather than dropped into a field, Oakfield Park is a genuinely good setting: a restored 18th-century demesne with woodland, lakes, and walking paths that give the site a character most festival sites lack.
Saturday (5 September) is billed as “Live and Original Acts” - the Boomtown Rats headline, joined by The Stunning as special guests, plus Super Céili, Fake Friends, and Lazember. Sunday (6 September) flips to “Legends Reimagined”, with tribute acts covering Daft Punk, Elvis, Tina Turner, Bon Jovi, and Taylor Swift, plus a Nashville country set. Two stages run across both days, so there is always something happening.
Food comes from Buffers Restaurant on site, with BBQs running throughout and multiple bars serving both days. VIP ticket holders get access to The Green Room, a dedicated area with a welcome drink and a private bar overlooking both stages. Capacity is strictly limited and tickets are not sold at the gate, so booking in advance is essential - parking also needs to be reserved as a separate add-on at checkout.
Children under three get in free and do not need a ticket, and the programme across both days is designed to work for families.
Raphoe is a small market town in east Donegal, about 15 km south of Letterkenny on the R236. From Letterkenny the drive takes around 20 minutes; from Derry / Londonderry it is roughly 30 minutes via the N13 and R236. Parking on site is available but limited and must be booked ahead. A shuttle bus service runs from Letterkenny (departing from The Orchard Venue) and from Raphoe town, which is a practical option if you are staying locally or coming by public transport to Letterkenny first.
Raphoe itself has a small Diamond square at its centre and the ruins of a medieval cathedral nearby - worth a brief walk around before or after the festival. There is more to see in Raphoe and across Co. Donegal.
