At Breifne Gael Brewing Company · Unit F1, Cavan Enterprise Centre, Dublin Road, Cavan, Co. Cavan
Bréifne Gael Brewing Company opens its doors for guided tours every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, giving visitors a look at how the brewery’s beers are made on its 200 litre Braumeister brewing system. The tours run from the brewery’s base at the Cavan Enterprise Centre on the Dublin Road, and finish with a tasting of the beers made on site, making it one of the few brewery experiences in the county open to the public on a regular basis rather than by special arrangement only. It is a small, independent operation, and the weekend tours are as much about meeting the people behind the beer as tasting the finished product.
Two tour slots run each Saturday and Sunday, at 4:30pm and 5:30pm. A guide walks visitors through the brewing process from ingredient selection through to packaging, explaining how the 200 litre Braumeister system works and what goes into the brewery’s different beers. The tour finishes with a tasting session, where visitors get to sample a selection of the beers discussed on the walk-through. Bréifne Gael is a working brewery rather than a purpose-built visitor attraction, so groups are kept small and the tour has a hands-on, informal feel rather than a scripted corporate presentation. The brewery also runs occasional themed sessions, such as its International Beer Day brew school, alongside the regular weekend tours.
Bréifne Gael Brewing is based at the Cavan Enterprise Centre on the Dublin Road, on the same side of town as Cavan Crystal Hotel. There is parking on site.
