At The Diamond, Donegal Town · The Diamond, Donegal Town, Co. Donegal
Donegal Town Farmers Market sets up on The Diamond, the town’s central square, on the third Saturday of every month from 10am to 2pm. Stallholders are local growers, home bakers and small producers from Donegal Town and the surrounding area, selling fresh fruit and vegetables, home baking, preserves, eggs and other local produce and craft goods direct to shoppers. It is a small, informal monthly market rather than a weekly fixture, so the exact line-up of stalls varies from month to month depending on which producers turn out, but the format stays the same: trestle tables and gazebos set up around the square for a four-hour window on a Saturday morning into early afternoon. It is listed alongside sister monthly markets in Manorhamilton, Strabane and Sligo as part of a loose network of farmers markets across the northwest, so some of the same producers who trade in Donegal Town also turn up at those neighbouring markets on their own market days.
Donegal Town sits on the N15 and N56 national routes in south Donegal and is served by Bus Éireann’s regional services, with the town’s bus stop a short walk from The Diamond. The market occupies part of the square itself, so on-street parking directly on the Diamond is limited on market mornings; shoppers typically use one of the town’s other central car parks and walk the short distance in.
