At Various GAA clubs across Co. Clare · Various, Co. Clare
For many Clare children, the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp is the highlight of summer - five days at their local GAA club learning the skills of hurling, football, camogie, and handball alongside friends and neighbours. Run by Clare GAA across the county every July and August, the camps are open to boys and girls aged 6 to 13, from complete beginners to kids already pulling on a jersey for their club. Coaches are qualified GAA instructors and the emphasis is firmly on fun and participation rather than competition. If your child has been watching the Clare seniors on TV and wants a hurl in their hand, this is the place to start.
Camps run Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm, at GAA clubs across Co. Clare - venues include clubs in Ennis, Shannon, Kilrush, and out into the rural parishes. One confirmed Clare location for the opening week is Clarecastle GAA (4-8 July 2026), with many more clubs across the county hosting sessions throughout July and August.
The programme is built around a games-based approach: each day focuses on a different set of skills, and children practise them through small-sided games rather than drills in a line. A different Gaelic game gets attention each day, so a child might spend Monday on hurling fundamentals and Thursday getting a taste of Gaelic football. The structure suits kids who have never held a hurl as well as those who already play underage for their club.
Every child who registers receives a Kellogg’s GAA kit - jersey, quarter-zip training top, and backpack - delivered before camp starts if you book at least ten days in advance. Bring a packed lunch, plenty of water, and runners or boots suitable for a grass pitch.
Ennis is the county town of Clare and the hub for transport in the region. It sits on the N18 motorway, roughly 30 minutes from Limerick and 2.5 hours from Dublin. Bus Éireann express services connect Ennis to Limerick, Galway, and Dublin, and Ennis railway station has regular trains on the Limerick - Ennis - Galway line. Most GAA clubs will have car parking on site; for clubs in smaller villages, roadside parking beside the pitch is the norm.
Dropping a child to camp and collecting at 2pm leaves a good stretch of time to explore. The Burren is within easy reach to the north, and the Cliffs of Moher are less than an hour’s drive. There is more to see in Ennis and across Co. Clare.
