At Delphi Resort · Leenane, Connemara, Co. Galway
A week at Delphi Resort is the kind of summer that stays with a child long after September rolls around. Set in a mountain valley above Killary Fjord - Ireland’s only fjord - the resort runs residential adventure camps for young people aged 10 to 17 throughout July and August. If you have a child who would rather be outside than scrolling, or one who needs a nudge towards something that builds genuine confidence, this is a well-run option in one of the most spectacular landscapes in the country.
Campers choose between a 5-day or 7-day residential stay, with everything included: accommodation in the 4-star resort hotel, three meals a day plus snacks, and a full programme of over 20 outdoor activities. The setting on Killary means water activities are a centrepiece - kayaking, canoeing, surfing and sea kayaking are all on offer. On land there is a 220-metre zip-line, climbing, abseiling, an aerial trek, archery, mountain biking, bushcraft and orienteering.
Days are structured and busy. Calls home are supported at set windows so parents stay in touch while children settle in. Campers should pack multiple layers for Connemara’s changeable weather and bring €40-50 spending money for the shop; everything else is covered. Drying facilities are on site, which matters out west.
Pricing for 2026 is €629 for five days or €809 for seven. Day trip options are available at €50 per child. A bus transfer to the resort can be added for €70 per person.
Delphi Resort is at Leenane in Connemara, roughly 70 km north of Galway city. By car, the most direct route takes about an hour via the N59 through Oughterard and Maam Cross. Roads narrow as you get deeper into Connemara, so allow extra time. Bus Éireann serves Leenane from Galway, though services are infrequent; the resort’s optional bus transfer is a practical alternative for drop-off and collection.
If you are making a trip of the drop-off, Clifden and Roundstone are both worth a detour on the way. There is more to see in Galway and across Co. Galway.
