TechKidz Coding Summer Camp at Coláiste Éinde

At Coláiste Éinde · Galway City

Children learning coding and creating digital projects at camp

A full day of coding, making and problem-solving for children aged 7 to 14, TechKidz camps are one of the more popular fixtures on the Irish summer camp calendar. The Galway session runs at Coláiste Éinde on 4 August 2026 and is organised by TechKidz, who operate technology camps at schools across Ireland every July and August. For parents looking for something purposeful during the school holidays - something that stretches kids beyond screens without dragging them away from the things they already love - a day like this tends to land well.

What to expect

The camp runs from 9:30am to 3:30pm, so it fills a full school-length day. Children work through a mix of coding and creative digital projects, with the programme adapted to different ages and experience levels across the 7-14 range. The curriculum draws on Scratch (a block-based coding language well suited to younger campers), Python, and HTML - three of the most commonly taught programming languages in Irish secondary schools, so there is real continuity value here beyond just the fun of a single day. Alongside coding, TechKidz typically include hands-on STEM modules such as robotics, electronics, 3D design and stop-motion animation. The emphasis is on making things that work - animations, simple games, short web pages - rather than sitting through instruction. All computer equipment is provided, so children arrive and get straight to it. The programme also builds in time for teamwork and social elements, which makes it a practical choice for children starting secondary school in the autumn who could do with meeting others outside their usual circle.

Getting there

Coláiste Éinde is a secondary school in Galway City, well within reach of the city centre and surrounding suburbs. Galway is served by regular Bus Éireann and GoBus coaches from Dublin, Limerick and other major towns, arriving into Ceannt Station on Eyre Square. From there, the city is compact and most parts are reachable by local bus or on foot. Drivers coming from east or south follow the M6 or N18 into the city. Street parking in Galway can be tight in August, so arriving slightly early or using one of the city’s park-and-ride options from the outskirts is worth considering for a morning drop-off.

While you’re in Galway

Galway City in August is at its most alive - street performers on Shop Street, the Spanish Arch, the long beach at Salthill a short drive west, and the Aran Islands a ferry ride from Rossaveal. If the camp gives you a free day while the children are occupied, there is no shortage of ways to spend it. There is more to see in Galway and across Co. Galway.
