At Limerick Racecourse · Limerick Racecourse, Co. Limerick
If you have ever spotted something remarkable in an antique shop and wished there were sixty more stalls to browse, this is the weekend for you. The Hibernian Vintage Antiques Fair is billed as Ireland’s largest indoor antiques, art and vintage fair, and its autumn edition comes to Limerick Racecourse on the first weekend of September. Over two days, more than 60 dealers set out their stalls across the racecourse venue, making it one of the best single opportunities in the country to find fine furniture, original art, jewellery, silver, porcelain, vintage collectibles, and militaria under one roof. It draws serious collectors, casual browsers, and first-time buyers equally well.
The fair runs across both Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, opening at 11am each day and running until 6pm. With 60-plus stands, there is genuine depth here - dealers come from around Ireland bringing stock that ranges from Georgian silver and oil paintings to mid-century furniture, vintage jewellery, and specialist militaria. This is not a car-boot sale: the dealers are knowledgeable and the quality of stock is consistently high. Admission is a flat €5 per person, paid at the door, which covers both days if you choose to return on Sunday. Whether you are hunting for something specific or simply enjoy the process of looking, the scale of the fair means you are unlikely to cover it all in a single pass. Bring cash for smaller purchases, though many dealers now accept card.
Limerick Racecourse is located at Greenmount Park, Patrickswell, on the main N20 road south-west of Limerick City - roughly a 10-minute drive from the city centre. By car from Dublin, take the M7 motorway and follow signs for Limerick; from Cork, the N20 runs directly to Patrickswell. Ample on-site parking is available at the racecourse. By public transport, Bus Eireann services connect Limerick City to Patrickswell; from Colbert Station in the city you can also take a taxi or rideshare for a short fare. Limerick itself is well served by rail from Dublin Heuston, Cork Kent, and Ennis.
The fair makes a good anchor for a weekend trip. Limerick City is a short drive from the racecourse, with King John’s Castle, the Hunt Museum, and the revived Milk Market all worth time before or after the fair. There is more to see in Limerick and across Co. Limerick.
