At Inns Cross Car Park · 75 Saintfield Road, Newtownbreda, Belfast, Co. Antrim, BT8 6GP
Saturday morning in south Belfast has a quiet rhythm to it, and Inns Cross Market fits right in. On the first Saturday of each month, around 30 stalls fill the rear car park of the Inns Cross shops on Saintfield Road, Newtownbreda - a short drive from the city centre but with the feel of a local neighbourhood gathering. This is a proper farmers market: most stalls are run by the people who made or grew what they’re selling, and there is no shortage of things to taste before you buy. It suits anyone who likes to shop with a bit of chat on the side.
The stall mix leans heavily on food - local, seasonal and well sourced. Expect specialty meats including Dexter beef, buffalo, small-batch cured bacon and handmade sausages, alongside biltong, burgers and house-made black pudding. There are jams, chutneys and oils from small producers, plus hot food to eat on the spot: soups, hotdogs and freshly made pizza among them. Artisan coffee and street food mean you can graze your way through the morning comfortably.
Beyond the food stalls, a plant nursery sets up when the season allows, and a handful of producers sell handmade organic skincare, natural scented candles and sustainable living goods. The market operates under the old forecourt canopy of the Inns Cross shops, which keeps things sheltered regardless of the weather - useful in a Belfast July. If you want to sit down properly, there is a District coffee shop inside the shopping complex itself.
Inns Cross is on the Saintfield Road (A24) in south Belfast, roughly 5km from the city centre. Translink Metro bus routes 7A and 7B run along Saintfield Road and stop close to the market - a handy option if you want to travel light and avoid the car. If you are driving, parking is available in the car park where the market is held, on site and free.
Newtownbreda sits just beyond the city’s southern edge, and the city centre is an easy run up the road for anyone wanting to make a day of it. There is more to see in Belfast and across Co. Antrim.
