Tennis Camps at Kilkenny College

At Kilkenny College · Kilkenny City, Co. Kilkenny

Tennis camp instruction at Kilkenny College

Summer tennis camps at Kilkenny College give young players a chance to sharpen their game in one of the finest school sporting settings in Ireland. Run by Bolster Tennis Camp - Ireland’s leading residential and day camp, with over 40 years of experience - these sessions are aimed at children and teenagers of all abilities, from first-time players learning to serve, to competitive juniors looking to build on club-level skills. The residential option makes it a proper week away for older kids; the day camp format suits families who want structured coaching without the overnight stay.

What to expect

Coaching is professional and structured, with players grouped by age and ability so nobody is left watching from the sidelines. The format follows the tried-and-tested Bolster approach: plenty of court time, drills focused on technique, and match play to put new skills into practice. Kilkenny College sits on Castlecomer Road on the north side of the city and has the court space and facilities to run a full residential sports camp - one of the larger boarding schools in Leinster, with infrastructure built to cater for hundreds of pupils year-round. Both day and residential places fill quickly; parents of returning campers tend to re-register before the brochure goes wide, so check the waiting list if the main intake is already full when you visit the site.

Getting there

Kilkenny city is easy to reach from most of Leinster. The M9 motorway connects Dublin to Kilkenny in around 90 minutes; from Waterford it is roughly 45 minutes via the N10. Bus Eireann runs regular services from Dublin, Cork and Waterford into Kilkenny city. The college is on Castlecomer Road, about 10 minutes walk from the city centre - there is parking on site for drop-off and collection.

While you’re in Kilkenny

The city is worth a slow look around after drop-off or collection - the medieval mile between Kilkenny Castle and St Canice’s Cathedral is genuinely impressive, and there are good cafes around High Street for a wait. There is more to see in Kilkenny and across Co. Kilkenny.
