What to Expect

Libraries NI’s Big Summer Read runs for 66 days from late June to the end of August 2026, inviting primary school-age children to read for at least 15 minutes a day throughout the summer holidays. The challenge encourages daily reading and regular library visits, with free events, workshops and activities at participating libraries including Antrim, Ballymena, Larne, Carrickfergus and Belfast branches. Children earn rewards for completing reading milestones and can attend themed events at their local library.

Check the Libraries NI website or visit your nearest local library to register. Libraries are in Antrim, Ballymena, Larne, Carrickfergus, Lisburn, Belfast and towns across the county.
