At Mountain View Markets · Kiltorcan, Ballyhale, Co. Kilkenny, R95 NH31
Mountain View Market runs every Sunday at Mountain View in Kiltorcan, near Ballyhale in south Kilkenny, bringing local food producers and artisan stallholders together on the site’s grounds from 11am to 4pm. It has grown into one of the county’s steadier weekend markets, sitting alongside the site’s golf course and events space, and draws shoppers from across south Kilkenny as well as neighbouring Waterford and Wexford.
Stalls change week to week but typically include home-baked goods, preserves, local meat and vegetables, crafts and other artisan products, with coffee and hot food available throughout the day for anyone making a morning of it. Mountain View also hosts occasional specialty markets and themed events on the same grounds, including a charity dog show in aid of the Kilkenny Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals earlier in the season, so it is worth checking what else is on before a visit. The setting is relaxed and family-friendly, with space to walk around outdoors rather than a packed indoor hall, and parking is on site.
Mountain View is signposted off the main routes into Ballyhale in south Kilkenny, around a twenty-minute drive from Kilkenny city. There is no rail service to Ballyhale itself, so a car is the practical way to get there; free parking is available on site.
Ballyhale is hurling country, home to one of Kilkenny’s best-known GAA clubs, and a market Sunday is a good reason to see more of the area beyond the market grounds. There is more to see in Ballyhale and across Co. Kilkenny.
