Kilkenny Junior and Intermediate Camogie Championships

Kilkenny Camogie’s adult club season steps up a gear from Friday 14 August 2026, when the River Court Hotel Junior Championship and the Abbott Intermediate Championship both open their league-phase round 1 fixtures. These two grades sit below senior camogie in the county’s grading structure, and both run as leagues split into divisions before moving to a knockout championship stage later in the season.

What to expect

The River Court Hotel Junior Championship’s round 1 covers multiple fixtures across Division 1 and Division 2, played at club grounds around the county on 14 August. The Abbott Intermediate Championship also opens round 1 of its Division 2 that evening, with Conahy Shamrocks hosting Dicksboro at Jenkinstown, throw-in 7pm. Both competitions follow the pattern used across Kilkenny’s camogie grades: a period of league rounds through August and September establishes seeding and momentum before the championship knockout stage begins, typically running into October. Given how strong camogie is in Kilkenny at senior level, the junior and intermediate grades are well stocked with clubs and players, several of whom will be pushing for promotion or targeting a first county title at their grade.

Getting there

Jenkinstown, home of Conahy Shamrocks, is in the north of the county near Castlecomer, with the GAA grounds signposted from the village. Fixtures in the wider Junior Championship are spread across grounds countywide, so check kilkennycamogie.ie for the venue relevant to a particular club’s game.
