Underage camogie players in action in Co. Kilkenny

The St Canice’s Credit Union U16E Camogie Championship gets its league phase under way on Saturday 8 August 2026, with round 1 fixtures in both Division 1 and Division 2. This is one of Kilkenny Camogie’s main underage competitions, running club sides at U16 level through a series of weekly rounds before a knockout championship stage later in the year.

What to expect

Division 1 carries two games on the day: Dicksboro face O’Loughlin Gaels at Palmerstown at 11am, and James Stephens meet Erin’s Own at Páirc Shéamuis Stíopháin at 7pm. Division 2’s round 1 sees John Lockes take on Young Irelands at John Locke Park, also at 11am. Further U16 and U14 camogie fixtures across other divisions are scheduled for the following Tuesday, 11 August, at venues around the county, reflecting how busy Kilkenny’s underage camogie calendar is through August. Camogie has a particularly strong club base in Kilkenny given the county’s senior success in recent years, and underage numbers reflect that, with multiple divisions needed to accommodate the number of clubs fielding U16 teams.

Getting there

Palmerstown is on the western edge of Kilkenny city, with the grounds well signposted. Páirc Shéamuis Stíopháin, James Stephens’ home ground, is also within the city on the Hebron Road side. John Locke Park is in Callan, south-west of the city on the R699, with parking available near the grounds.

While you’re in Kilkenny

A Saturday of underage camogie is a family friendly way to spend a morning or evening, and both city venues are a short drive from Kilkenny’s medieval core. There is more to see in Kilkenny and across Co. Kilkenny.
