Back2Basics has been putting on old school electronic nights around Ireland for years, and their Pulse series brings that same energy to one of Kilkenny’s best music rooms. On Saturday 29 August 2026, DJ Pressure takes the decks at Set Theatre for a night rooted in classic dance floor sounds - the kind of set that rewards people who know their rave history as much as those who just want to move. If you like your electronic music with proper roots rather than algorithm-driven playlists, this is worth the trip.
Set Theatre is a 380-capacity venue attached to Langtons Hotel on John Street, designed by David Collins Studio and opened in 2009. It has the feel of a serious music room - not a cavern, not a barn, but a space built for the act of actually listening and dancing. Two bars keep things moving, and there is a covered, heated outdoor courtyard if you need air. The sound is good and the floor gets involved.
Back2Basics runs the Pulse nights as a showcase for DJs with proper back catalogues.
