At Set Theatre Kilkenny · Set Theatre, Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny
If you were anywhere near a radio in the 1990s, you know why a night like this sells out. Roll With It is a Belfast-based Oasis tribute act with a reputation for going deep into the catalogue - not just the anthems, but the B-sides and album tracks that made the real fans. A Sunday night at Set Theatre Kilkenny, with the volume up and a room full of people who know every word, is a hard thing to pass on.
Roll With It covers all seven Oasis studio albums, so the set runs well beyond the obvious singalongs. You can expect “Champagne Supernova”, “Live Forever” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger” alongside deeper cuts that take the crowd by surprise. The band have played venues across Ireland - Dolan’s in Limerick, shows in Dublin and beyond - and are known for tight playing and a front man who delivers the Liam Gallagher swagger without the tour-ending tantrums. Set Theatre is a compact, purpose-built room - capacity around 380 standing - which means good sightlines from most spots and the kind of sound that fills you rather than just hitting you. Doors typically open 30 to 45 minutes before showtime, so arrive before 8pm if you want a decent position.
Kilkenny is well served from Dublin by Bus Eireann and Transdev rail from Heuston Station - the journey by rail takes around 90 minutes, with regular departures. From Cork, take the train to Thurles and connect, or drive the N8/M8 north. By road from Dublin the M7 to Junction 8 and the N10 into Kilkenny is the most direct route, roughly 90 minutes. Set Theatre is on John Street in the city centre, attached to Langtons Hotel. Parking is available in the McDonagh Junction multi-storey carpark on John Street (a short walk) and on adjacent streets in the evening.
Kilkenny city is compact enough to see properly in a day or two - the castle, the medieval mile, Smithwick’s Experience and some of the best pubs in Leinster. If you are travelling for the show, arriving the day before gives you room to explore without rushing. There is more to see in Kilkenny and across Co. Kilkenny.
