Letterkenny Artisan Market is an indoor market held every Saturday from 10am to 3pm at Unit 1, Carrygally Business Park in Lismonaghan on the edge of Letterkenny. Being indoors and under one roof marks it out from most of the county’s other markets, which tend to be small outdoor stalls; here, local artisans, crafters and makers trade side by side selling handmade goods, artwork, crafts and other unique products, alongside food traders offering hot gourmet food, specialty coffee and baked goods. There’s a kids’ activity zone on site too, which makes it an easier Saturday morning outing for families than a standard produce market. The market was established by Derek Walker and Anna McQuade as a year-round home for small Donegal businesses that might otherwise only get the chance to trade at seasonal fairs.
Carrygally Business Park is on the outskirts of Letterkenny, reached by car in a few minutes from the town centre; the venue has its own on-site parking, which is one of the advantages of an out-of-town business park location over a town-centre street market. Letterkenny’s bus and rail depot in the town centre connects to regional Bus Éireann and Local Link routes for visitors travelling without a car, though a taxi or lift is the more practical way to reach Carrygally itself.
Being indoors under one roof, the market is also a reliable wet-weather option compared with Donegal’s many outdoor stalls, and its Saturday date means it sits alongside the county town’s separate monthly Letterkenny Farmers Market, which trades outside An Grianan Theatre on the last Friday of the month, giving shoppers two distinct market fixtures across a typical month in Letterkenny.
