What to Expect

Letterkenny Farmers Market sets up on the forecourt of An Grianan Theatre, the town’s main performing arts venue, on the last Friday of every month from 10am to 2pm. Stallholders are local food producers and growers from around Letterkenny and the wider county, selling fresh produce, home baking and other local goods to shoppers in Donegal’s largest town. Because it is monthly rather than weekly, it tends to draw a slightly bigger and more varied set of traders than some of the county’s smaller weekly markets, using the theatre’s forecourt as a natural gathering point close to the town centre. It complements the county town’s separate weekly Letterkenny Artisan Market, which runs on Saturdays at a different indoor venue, giving Letterkenny two distinct market fixtures across the month.

Getting There

Letterkenny is Donegal’s largest town and a hub for Bus Éireann and Local Link services from across the county, with the bus and rail depot a short walk from An Grianan Theatre. Public car parks serve the town centre within walking distance of the theatre, though the forecourt itself is given over to market stalls on market Fridays.

As the county’s main population centre, Letterkenny is also the easiest of Donegal’s market towns to reach without a car, with regular Bus Éireann Expressway services connecting it to Dublin, Derry, Sligo and Galway as well as local routes serving the surrounding villages, so visitors without their own transport are better placed here than at most of the county’s smaller weekly markets.
