TG4 All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football Championship

The TG4 All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football Championship reaches its quarter-final weekend on 4 and 5 July 2026, and for anyone who follows the women’s game, this is one of the best weekends of the GAA calendar. Eight counties battle it out in home venues across the country, with all four ties broadcast live on TG4. Limerick did not advance from the group stage this year, but the championship still gives Limerick supporters every reason to travel and see the best of ladies Gaelic football up close.

What to expect

The quarter-final draw has produced some mouth-watering ties. Dublin host Cork, a fixture that needs no introduction to followers of the game. Kerry welcome Meath, pitting one of the traditional powers against last year’s All-Ireland finalists. Galway take on Connacht neighbours Mayo in a provincial derby, and Armagh host Kildare in what promises to be a tight contest. Three ties are fixed for Saturday 4 July, with the fourth taking place on Sunday 5 July. All matches are live on TG4, so supporters who cannot travel can catch every one of them. The winners progress to the semi-finals, with the All-Ireland Final fixed for 2 August at Croke Park. Quarter-finals at this level are knockout football at its most direct - compact rosters, high intensity, and rarely a dull game.

Getting there

The quarter-finals are played at the home venues of the higher-ranked teams, so Dublin, Parnell Park or Croke Park, Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney, Pearse Stadium in Salthill, and the Athletic Grounds in Armagh are the likely settings depending on confirmed fixtures. Limerick to Dublin takes around two hours on the M7 and M8; trains from Colbert Station run regularly to Heuston on Irish Rail. For Kerry, the N21 west from Limerick gets you to Killarney in just under an hour and a half - it is the nearest quarter-final venue to the city. Bus Éireann express services link Limerick to most of these destinations. Check specific kick-off times and confirmed venues on ladiesgaelic.ie before you travel, as final venue details follow the conclusion of group-stage results.

While you’re in Limerick

If you are making a weekend of it and staying in Limerick, the city sits at the centre of a county with real substance - the River Shannon, King John’s Castle, the Hunt Museum, and the Munster rugby ground at Thomond Park are all close together in the city itself. There is more to see in Limerick and across Co. Limerick.
