Irish Wire Products Limerick Senior Football Championship - Round 3

At TBC · Limerick

Gaelic football action, Limerick Senior Football Championship

Fr. Casey’s face Galtee Gaels in Group 1 Round 3 of the Irish Wire Products Limerick Senior Football Championship on Thursday, 13 August 2026, with throw-in at 12:00pm. It is one of six fixtures played across both groups on the day, as twelve clubs compete for the Fr Casey Cup, the county’s senior football title. Defending champions Mungret St Pauls are also in action elsewhere in the round, with Kildimo Pallaskenry against Adare among the other Round 3 games.

What to expect

The Limerick Senior Football Championship runs as a group stage before a finals series, with two groups of six clubs competing for a place in the semi-finals and, eventually, the Fr Casey Cup final. Round 3 is played in a Thursday midday slot, the usual scheduling for county club fixtures during the working week, which keeps crowds smaller and more local than a weekend match without lowering the intensity. Six games are on across the county on the same afternoon: alongside Fr. Casey’s against Galtee Gaels, Group 1 also sees Monaleen face St Kieran’s and Newcastle West play Oola, while Group 2 has Rathkeale against Askeaton Ballysteen Kilcornan, Kildimo Pallaskenry against Adare, and Ballylanders against Mungret St Pauls. Venues for Round 3 are confirmed by the clubs closer to the fixture date, in the usual way for county championship football. Admission is free, as is standard for club championship games in Limerick.

Getting there

Limerick city sits at the junction of the M7 and M20 motorways, with road links from Dublin, Cork and Galway, and is served by Irish Rail from Dublin Heuston and Cork Kent. Round 3 venues are confirmed closer to the date; check limerickgaa.ie or the competing clubs’ own pages once the ground is announced.

While you’re in Limerick

A midday throw-in leaves the rest of the day free either side of the match. Limerick city’s medieval quarter, the Hunt Museum and the Milk Market are all within easy reach of most county grounds. There is more to see in Limerick and across Co. Limerick.
