What to Expect

King John’s Castle brings over 800 years of Irish history to life through interactive exhibitions with touch screen technology, 3D models and original medieval furnishings. The Medieval Experience features costumed guides in interpretative re-enactments of life as a Norman Soldier. Children can participate in medieval games including quoits (ring toss), horseshoe throwing and tug of war with castle characters teaching games and sharing tales of medieval warfare. Summer 2026 programme includes creative workshops alongside heritage activities.
