At University Concert Hall · University of Limerick, Limerick
A week on a proper concert stage - that is the offer here. This is Your Stage Summer Camp, led by Keith Hanley, one of University Concert Hall’s most recognisable pantomime performers, runs across five days and gives young people aged 8 to 14 the chance to work like a real company: rehearsing, learning from professional artists, and building toward a live showcase in front of family and friends. If your child is drawn to performing but has never had a structured space to develop that - or just wants to spend a summer week doing something more memorable than screen time - this is worth knowing about.
Each day runs from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday to Friday (6-10 July 2026). The programme is built around three strands - singing, movement, and stagecraft - taught by Keith Hanley and a team of professional artists. The emphasis is on ensemble work: participants are encouraged to collaborate, support each other, and discover what it takes to perform together rather than simply show off individually. That said, confidence-building is central to the whole week.
The week builds toward a final showcase performance on the UCH stage itself - a 1,038-seat venue that hosts the Irish Chamber Orchestra and major touring productions. That is not a school hall performance; it is the real thing, and families are invited to attend.
Spaces are limited (30 places at this intake), and the camp has been flagged as selling fast. Keith Hanley is well known to Limerick audiences from years of UCH pantomimes, which adds a familiar face to what might otherwise feel like an unfamiliar environment for a nervous first-timer.
University Concert Hall sits on the University of Limerick campus, roughly 3 km east of Limerick city centre along the Dublin Road (N7). By car, follow signs for the University of Limerick from the city - there is on-campus parking available, though it is worth arriving a few minutes early on drop-off days. From Limerick city centre, Bus Eireann routes serve the UL campus regularly. Limerick Colbert station is the main rail hub, with regular services from Dublin Heuston (about 2 hours), Cork (about 1 hour 20 minutes), and Ennis. Taxis and ride-sharing from the station to UL take around 10 minutes.
If you are making the trip from outside the city, Limerick repays the visit. The Hunt Museum on Rutland Street holds one of Ireland’s finest private art collections, and King John’s Castle on the banks of the Shannon is a short walk from the city centre. There is more to see in Limerick and across Co. Limerick.
