Limerick Sound brings a line-up of local and international DJs to the open-air plaza at Steamboat Quay on Friday, 28 August 2026, starting at 5pm. Organised by Limerick City and County Council, the free event is built around a series of 45-minute live DJ sets covering Irish, Latino, Brazilian, Afro and techno music, one after another through the evening on the riverside quay. It is a public showcase rather than a ticketed club night, open to anyone passing through the docklands area.
The council’s own listing describes Limerick Sound as a celebration of the city’s musical diversity, with each act given a 45-minute slot to showcase a different style rather than one long generic set. Confirmed genres span Irish, Latino, Brazilian, Afro and techno music, performed by DJs who play regularly across the city’s pubs and clubs the rest of the year, so this is a rare chance to see several of them back to back on one outdoor stage. Steamboat Quay is a paved riverside plaza close to the old docks, giving the event a wide-open, festival-style feel rather than the inside of a club, with the Shannon running alongside the sets. As with any outdoor council programme, timings and the running order can shift nearer the date, so it is worth checking the council’s own listing before heading down. There is no admission charge and no ticket to book.
Steamboat Quay runs along the Shannon on the edge of Limerick’s docklands, within walking distance of the city centre and Arthur’s Quay. As with any city-centre outdoor event, walking in or using on-street parking nearby is the easiest approach for the evening.
