Feel Good Fridays: Old Skool at Amber

At Amber · Howley's Quay, V94 X4DK, Limerick, Co. Limerick

Club night crowd dancing under coloured lights

Feel Good Fridays: Old Skool takes over Amber on Howley’s Quay on Friday 11 September 2026, promising, in the organiser’s words, “a night where timeless classics meet today’s biggest Afro sounds.” Doors open at 10pm and the night runs to 2.30am, making it one of the later finishes on the city’s nightlife calendar this September.

What to expect

House of AfroEire, the promoters behind the night, build the set around old school R&B and hip hop alongside Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall and Gqom, plus pop, so the sound moves between decades and continents rather than sitting on one genre all night. The event is strictly 21 and over, a stricter age policy than most Limerick club nights, and photography, videography and a photo booth are laid on for the night. Paid parking is available at the venue for anyone driving. Given the no-refunds policy and the later-than-usual finish time, this reads as a proper big-night-out rather than a casual midweek session.

Getting there

Amber is on Howley’s Quay, on the riverside close to Limerick city centre, within easy walking distance of the main O’Connell Street strip and Colbert Station. Paid parking is available on site for those driving, and Limerick’s Bus Eireann and Iarnrod Eireann services into the city centre make it a straightforward option for anyone travelling in from elsewhere in the county for the night.

While you’re in Limerick

Howley’s Quay sits along the Shannon, a short stroll from King John’s Castle and the medieval quarter, so there is scope to make an evening of it with dinner in town before heading to the venue for 10pm, especially given the later 2.30am finish leaves plenty of time either side. There is more to see in Limerick and across Co. Limerick.
