At Limerick Racecourse · Greenmount Park, Patrickswell, Co. Limerick
The Limerick Show fills Limerick Racecourse at Greenmount Park on Sunday, 23 August 2026, with up to 15,000 visitors, 1,000 competitors and 150 trade exhibitors expected through the gates. It is the county’s largest combined family and agricultural show, built around competitive classes for livestock and horses alongside a full day of family entertainment, and it is one of the few events that brings farming families and city visitors onto the same showground at the same time.
The show ring runs show jumping and horse and pony classes through the day, with separate agricultural classes for cattle and other livestock and a horticulture competition for growers. A dog show runs alongside the main ring, and Celia Holman Lee hosts a fashion show and best-dressed lady competition. Beyond the competitions there is a food village, market stalls, a children’s zone and a careers village, with live music running through the afternoon. Trade exhibitors fill much of the showground with stands covering everything from farm machinery to crafts, making it as much a market day as a competition day for many visitors, and the scale of it, thousands of people across one site for one day, is what sets it apart from the county’s smaller local shows.
Limerick Racecourse is at Greenmount Park, just outside Patrickswell and about 13km south of Limerick city on the road toward Croom. Gates open to the public at 9am, and the showground has extensive on-site parking for what is one of the county’s biggest single-day gatherings.
Patrickswell is a small village on the old Limerick to Cork road, a few minutes from the racecourse and best known locally for its hurling club. There is more to see in Patrickswell and across Co. Limerick.
