HenMur Theatre Productions stages its debut production, an evening of three one-act plays, at Friars Gate Theatre in Kilmallock on Saturday, 26 September 2026. The company was newly founded by Michelle Hennessy and Brian Murray, who have previously written and produced two radio plays together, and this performance marks their first work for the stage.
The evening is built around three short, contrasting plays. Lisdoonvarna is a romantic drama set in Ireland’s traditional matchmaking capital, following how an unexpected connection develops into something more. Bringing Home the Bacon is a comedy about two friends navigating life’s surprises, played largely for laughs. The Last Rebel is the more reflective piece of the three, looking at how different generations find common ground despite starting from apparently opposed positions. Staging three distinct one-act plays in a single evening is a well-established format in Irish amateur and semi-professional theatre, giving a new company room to show range across comedy and drama in one sitting rather than committing an entire evening to a single tone. Friars Gate Theatre is Kilmallock’s dedicated arts venue and a regular home for touring and local drama in south County Limerick.
