Ultimate Bubble Show

At Lime Tree Theatre · Mary Immaculate College, Courtbrack Avenue, Limerick

Ultimate Bubble Show promotional image

Ray Bubbles is an International Bubbleologist and Guinness World Record Holder with a very specific obsession: making a square bubble. The Ultimate Bubble Show is built around that quest, and it takes the audience along for every surreal, soapy step. This is a proper family show - the kind that works for curious four-year-olds and genuinely entertained adults in equal measure. Ray has spent years performing in SEND schools and with neurodivergent groups, so the pacing and sensory experience are calibrated with care. If you have kids who find loud or chaotic performances difficult, this one is worth knowing about.

What to expect

The show is a soap bubble extravaganza - using different gases to create effects that go well beyond what you can do with a plastic wand in the back garden. Expect a volcano bubble, a soap bubble carousel, a bubble ghost, and the centrepiece: a tornado spinning inside a bubble. Ray walks the audience through each creation, building tension around whether the square bubble will actually hold. It has the feel of a science demonstration crossed with a magic show, and the bubble effects are genuinely striking live in a way they don’t quite translate to video. Previous run dates have sold out, so booking early is sensible. Seating is allocated, and wheelchair spaces are available by contacting the box office directly on 061 953 400.

Getting there

Lime Tree Theatre sits on the campus of Mary Immaculate College on Courtbrack Avenue, off the Dock Road on the south side of Limerick city. By car from Dublin, take the M7 motorway and follow signs for Limerick city centre; the journey is roughly two hours. From Cork, the N20 brings you in from the south in about an hour and a half. Parking is available on the college campus. Limerick city is also served by Bus Eireann from Dublin, Cork, and Galway, with the bus station a short taxi or city bus ride from the venue. Colbert Station handles direct rail from Dublin Heuston, Cork Kent, and Ennis.

While you’re in Limerick

Limerick city repays a few extra hours - King John’s Castle on the riverbank is one of the best-preserved Norman fortresses in Ireland, and the Hunt Museum holds a collection that punches well above its size. There is more to see in Limerick and across Co. Limerick.
