At Longford County Council venue · County Longford
County Longford is drawing up its new Heritage Plan for 2026 to 2030 - and before the council puts pen to paper, they want to hear from the people who actually live here. This drop-in consultation clinic, held during National Heritage Week, is your chance to sit down with council representatives over a cup of tea and say what matters most to you about Longford’s heritage: the old buildings, the waterways, the archaeology, the wildlife, the traditions. No formal submission required, no agenda to wade through - just a conversation. It suits anyone who cares about how the county looks after its past and its natural environment over the next five years.
The session runs as a drop-in clinic, meaning you turn up when it suits you, have a chat, and leave. There is no presentation to sit through and no booking needed. Council staff and representatives from the County Longford Heritage Forum will be on hand to take your views - whether that is a single concern about a local ruin, a broad interest in biodiversity, or just a question about what the plan actually does.
The previous Heritage Plan (2019-2024) addressed natural heritage, built heritage, archaeological heritage, biodiversity and heritage in schools. The new 2026-2030 plan will cover similar ground and will be shaped in part by what people raise during these consultations. National Heritage Week 2026 runs from 15 to 23 August under the theme “Heritage at Risk” - so the timing is deliberate.
Refreshments are provided. Come with your thoughts ready or simply come curious.
