Monaghan Mushrooms Long Table Dinner

At Church Square · Church Square, Monaghan, Co. Monaghan

An outdoor long table set for dinner in Church Square, Monaghan

The Monaghan Mushrooms Long Table Dinner brings an outdoor sit-down meal for 50 guests to Church Square on Friday, 14 August 2026, as the ticketed centrepiece of the Monaghan Street Food Festival weekend. Sponsored by Monaghan Mushrooms with support from Failte Ireland, the dinner runs from 7pm to 10pm under the open sky, built around a menu of local produce, with live music, craft beer from Brehon Brewhouse and gin cocktails served through the evening. It is the second year the format has run, after a sold-out debut in 2025, and places are limited.

What to expect

Guests sit together at one long table set up in Church Square rather than at separate restaurant tables, with a menu curated to showcase Monaghan food producers. The 2025 debut served a four-course meal to 50 diners with live music from The Two Five Ones and sold out its allocation, priced at EUR 30 per ticket that year. Organisers Taste of Monaghan describe the 2026 edition as the event’s second iteration, again with Monaghan Mushrooms as headline sponsor. Brehon Brewhouse, the family-run craft brewery based on a dairy farm outside Carrickmacross, supplies the beer for the evening, and gin cocktails are served alongside. Because the dinner falls inside the two-day Monaghan Street Food Festival, which fills Monaghan town centre with food trucks and artisan stalls from the Dawson Monument to the Diamond on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August, guests can pair the ticketed evening meal with the free daytime festival programme the following day.

Getting there

Church Square sits in the centre of Monaghan town, a short walk from the Diamond and the town’s main car parks, all of which fall inside the Street Food Festival’s pedestrianised zone for the weekend. Monaghan is around 90 minutes from Dublin on the N2/A5 and about an hour from Belfast on the A3, with Bus Eireann running regular services from Dublin Busaras.

While you’re in Monaghan

Monaghan town centre is compact and walkable, with the Market House and the County Museum both close to Church Square if there is time to fill before the dinner starts. There is more to see in Monaghan and across Co. Monaghan.
