What to Expect

Baby Pictures is Queen’s Film Theatre’s answer to the fact that new parents rarely get an evening out, let alone a trip to the cinema. The monthly daytime screening is open to carers of babies aged twelve months and under, with the auditorium lights kept slightly raised, the sound turned down a notch and general understanding that a baby crying, feeding or needing a nappy change mid-film is entirely normal. It is a proper film, not a watered-down version, just watched in a room where nobody minds if you have to get up.

The August session, confirmed for the 14th, screens Tony. As with the rest of the Baby Pictures programme, the film selection varies from month to month and is announced on the QFT website ahead of each date, so it is worth checking before booking if you have a particular preference. The session fits into a broader family programme at QFT that also includes Family Pictures for slightly older children on the first Sunday of the month.

Getting There

QFT is at 20 University Square in the Queen’s Quarter, a 15 to 20 minute walk from Belfast city centre along University Road. Metro bus routes 7, 7a and 8 serve the area, and Botanic train station is a five-minute walk away. Buggy access is straightforward from the University Square entrance.
