Shane Martin: Wake Up! You're Here!

Psychologist and author Shane Martin brings his one-man theatre show Wake Up! You’re Here! to Iontas Theatre on Saturday, 5 September 2026. Billed as an uplifting, life-affirming evening, the show blends psychology, storytelling, humour and poetry into a single performance built around the idea of stepping off autopilot and paying attention to an ordinary life while you are living it.

What to expect

Martin, known for his Moodwatchers work on mood and mental health, uses the stage rather than a lecture format to make his case, mixing personal stories with poetry and moments of humour rather than delivering a straight talk. The show asks audiences to pause and reconsider what it means to be alive day to day, moving between reflection and comedy over the course of the evening. It is pitched as a theatre experience rather than a motivational lecture, and the same production has been touring other Irish venues around the same period, with Iontas hosting one date on that run. A companion book of the same title is in preparation, which the show draws on for some of its material.

Iontas is in Conabury, on the edge of Castleblayney town centre, with parking on site and level access throughout the building.
