At Longford-Drumlish Community Sports Hub · Drumlish, Co. Longford
STARCAMP has been running summer camps across Ireland since 2007, and the Longford run at Drumlish Community Sports Hub is a firm fixture for families in the county. If you have a child aged 4 to 12 who needs somewhere to go during the school holidays - somewhere genuinely fun rather than just supervised - this is worth a look. The 2026 theme is circus, and the week runs with a full daily programme from Monday 20 to Friday 24 July. It suits children across a wide age range, with the programme split so that the youngest ones are not just trailing along behind the older kids.
The week is built around performance and creativity rather than sport. STARCAMP splits into two streams: STARCAMP for ages 4 to 8, and STARCREW for ages 8 to 12.
Younger children get the full circus treatment - clowning games, balance activities, singing, dancing, circus-themed crafts, treasure hunts, and a teddy bear circus party towards the end of the week. The emphasis is on joining in and imagination rather than competing, so children who are shy or unsure tend to settle quickly.
Older children in STARCREW work on ringmaster skills, circus-style challenges, choreography, music, mystery-solving, and outdoor activities. There is a stronger focus on leadership and teamwork at this level, and the activities are designed to be genuinely engaging for children who have outgrown the junior activities.
The camp runs 9:00am to 2:00pm daily, with an early drop-off option from 8:45am. The non-competitive format and the structured end-of-week show give the week a clear shape that children can look forward to.
