What to Expect

The Willie Clancy Summer School is held annually in Miltown Malbay and is the most celebrated traditional Irish music event in Ireland. Instrument and dance classes, lectures, workshops, recitals, and ceilthe run through the nine-day event. Tuition is offered in Uilleann Pipes, Whistle, Flute, Fiddle, Concertina, Button Accordion, Melodeon, Banjo, Harmonica, and Harp, as well as traditional set dancing and step dancing, and singing workshops. Levels range from Beginner through to Advanced, making it suitable for young players and families with musically inclined children.

• Enrolment for the week’s classes: EUR 150 per person (includes morning workshops, afternoon lectures, evening recitals, Irish language classes and ceilthe).
• Street sessions and many public events are free to attend.
• Book early - the school draws participants from across Ireland and internationally.

Getting There

Miltown Malbay is on the N67 on the west Clare coast, approximately 35km from Ennis. Bus Eireann services connect Ennis to Miltown Malbay. Parking is available in the town.
