Your chauffeur meets you at Dublin Airport arrivals or at your Dublin city location and takes you directly to Dromoland Castle, County Clare, in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. You travel with your full group - no shared transfers, no unexpected stops along the way.
Dromoland Castle is a five-star estate hotel set on 450 acres in north Clare, overlooking its own lake. It’s been a castle since the 16th century and a hotel since the 1960s. Arriving by private chauffeur is the natural way to begin a stay there. The journey takes around two hours depending on traffic.
The same transfer can be booked for the return journey to Dublin city or the airport - just let the operator know your pickup location when booking.
Dromoland’s main gate is on the N18 between Newmarket-on-Fergus and Shannon, so your driver will bring you in along that road from the Limerick direction. It’s a straightforward approach once you’re off the motorway. If you’re flying into Shannon Airport rather than Dublin, this transfer doesn’t apply - Shannon Airport is only about 10km from Dromoland and a separate local transfer would suit better.
The castle grounds open to day visitors for the golf course, spa, and a lakeside walk, but if you’re staying overnight, check-in is from mid-afternoon. If you’re arriving earlier than that after a transatlantic flight, the front desk can usually arrange early access to the spa or a quiet corner of the drawing room while your room is prepared - it’s worth calling ahead.
Dinner reservations at the castle’s Earl of Thomond restaurant get booked up quickly, particularly at weekends. If a formal dinner is part of your plan, call or email the reservations team directly once your transfer is confirmed rather than waiting until you arrive. The Fig Tree restaurant is a slightly more casual alternative on the same estate.
Newmarket-on-Fergus village is about 3km from the castle and has a small selection of pubs and a pharmacy if you need anything basic. Ennis town, about 12km north, is the nearest proper town with supermarkets, post office, and a good selection of restaurants and traditional music pubs. Your chauffeur can point you toward either if you need a stop en route.
