Abbeyfeale Men's Shed

Abbeyfeale Men’s Shed meets every Monday evening at the town’s Community Education Centre in Mountmahon, giving men from Abbeyfeale and the surrounding area a regular, low-pressure place to meet up during the week. It describes itself as a friendly and welcoming meeting place, built on the same national Men’s Shed model of giving men a reason to leave the house and something practical or social to do once they get there.

What to expect

The shed runs from 6pm to 9pm, a longer evening session than many sheds elsewhere in the county, and the room is set up for socialising as much as for projects, with a computer, a pool table and a darts board on site alongside space for hands-on work. There is no fixed programme; men drop in across the three-hour window, chat, play a game of pool or darts, or work on whatever project is on the go that week. As with Men’s Sheds nationally, the emphasis is on regular, informal contact rather than any one activity, and it is aimed particularly at men who might otherwise spend the evening on their own, whether retired, between jobs, or just looking for company.

Getting there

Abbeyfeale Community Education Centre is in Mountmahon on the edge of Abbeyfeale town, in the far west of County Limerick near the Kerry border. There is parking at the centre.
