All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Final - Limerick v Clare/Dublin Winner

At Croke Park · Jones' Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 3

Hurlers contest possession at Croke Park during an All-Ireland semi-final

Clare and Limerick renew one of hurling’s fiercest provincial rivalries on the biggest stage in Gaelic games. After Clare dismantled Dublin by 13 points in the quarter-final, the Banner County now face the Munster champions - the same Limerick side that put 2-30 past them earlier in the summer. Getting one back at Croke Park, in front of a crowd nudging 82,000, is the prize. If you follow Clare hurling, this is the afternoon you have been waiting for.

What to expect

The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final between Limerick and Clare throws in at 4:00 PM on Sunday 5 July at Croke Park, with the match live on RTE2. Limerick arrive as Munster champions and among the shortest-priced contenders for the All-Ireland title; Clare arrive with momentum and a point to prove after that heavy Munster defeat. The winner goes straight to the All-Ireland final on 19 July at the same venue. Semi-finals at Croke Park carry a particular charge - the terraces fill with county colours, the noise builds from throw-in, and the pace of championship hurling at this stage is relentless. Come early, because Croke Park on a summer Sunday fills fast.

Tickets went to club allocations first, with a general public sale opening via Ticketmaster and GAA.ie from Wednesday 25 June. Prices start from €25. Check GAA.ie for the current availability, as these games sell quickly once the fixtures are confirmed.

Getting there

Croke Park is in Drumcondra on the north side of Dublin, about a 15-minute walk from the city centre. Clare supporters most commonly travel by train from Ennis to Heuston Station, then cross the city on the Luas Red Line to O’Connell - GPO and walk north to Jones’ Road. Bus Eireann coaches from Clare arrive at Busaras on Store Street, which is closer still. By car, parking near the ground is very limited and road closures apply on match days - allow extra time and plan to walk the last stretch from further into the north city.

While you’re in Ennis

If you are travelling up from Clare on the day, Ennis is a natural gathering point before supporters head to Dublin - the town fills with the buzz of a big championship Sunday, with flags in windows and the radio on in every pub. There is more to see in Ennis and across Co. Clare.
