Taste of Summer BBQ at Avoca Kilmacanogue

Avoca’s flagship store in Kilmacanogue hosts its Taste of Summer BBQ on Saturday, 25 July 2026, a gourmet cookout built around Irish artisan food producers. The event runs from 12:30pm well into the evening, with a BBQ lunch, cookery demonstrations and tastings from more than thirty Irish and international suppliers, closing out with live music and a DJ set. It is a returning summer fixture at the Kilmacanogue store rather than a one-off.

What to expect

Every ticket includes a BBQ lunch, a complimentary summer cocktail for adults (a soft drink for kids), and access to the full afternoon’s activities. Through the day there are live cookery demonstrations and tastings from Avoca’s own kitchen and bakery alongside outside suppliers including Nibbed Cacao, Rivesci, Mitchell & Son Wines, Seafood Suppers and Grá Chocolates, plus ice cream from Solstice. Kids are catered for with face painting, crafts and games running throughout. As the afternoon turns to evening, 1980s tribute act Spring Break takes the stage for a live set, before a DJ closes out the night with summer tunes. Between the food stalls, the demonstrations and the entertainment, it draws a mixed family crowd earlier in the day and an adult evening crowd later on.

Getting there

Avoca Kilmacanogue is on the N11 just south of the Glen of the Downs, with its own car park on site for the day. Bus Éireann services along the N11 corridor between Dublin and Wicklow town stop close by, and it is a short drive from Bray or Kilmacanogue village itself.

While you’re in Kilmacanogue

Avoca’s shop and gardens are themselves the reason most visitors stop in Kilmacanogue, with the Great Sugar Loaf and the Glen of the Downs nature reserve both within sight of the car park. There is more to see in Kilmacanogue and across Co. Wicklow.
