Bell X1 - Live at Iveagh Gardens

At Iveagh Gardens · Clonmel Street, Dublin 2

Bell X1 performing live at Iveagh Gardens Dublin

Bell X1 have been making music together since 1999, and in that time they have built a reputation as one of the finest live acts Ireland has produced. This July night in the Iveagh Gardens is the kind of show their long-term fans plan their summer around - Paul Noonan’s voice carries something live that recordings can only approximate, and the band’s catalogue of shimmering indie rock gives them a set list most groups would envy. If you came to them through “Flame” and “I’ll See Your Heart” in the early 2000s or discovered them later, this is a show that rewards the effort of getting a ticket.

What to expect

The Iveagh Gardens holds around 5,000 people for its summer concert series, which keeps things on the right side of intimate. Support on the night comes from Bren Berry & The Beautiful Losers before Bell X1 take the stage. Gates open at 6:30pm, so arriving early gives you time to settle in, get a drink and find your spot on the lawn. Bag restrictions apply - check the Ticketmaster listing beforehand. The gardens themselves are a good setting: sunken lawns, a cascade water feature, and enough greenery to make you forget you are in the middle of a city.

Getting there

Iveagh Gardens sits just off Harcourt Street in Dublin 2, behind the National Concert Hall. The entrance is on Clonmel Street. The Luas Green Line stops at Harcourt, which is a two-minute walk from the gate, and most buses serving the city centre stop on St Stephen’s Green or Harcourt Street. Driving is not recommended - parking in this part of Dublin 2 is limited at the best of times and near-impossible on a summer concert night. Cycling is an option, with bike stands and Dublin Bikes stations nearby on Harcourt Street.

While you’re in Dublin

Harcourt Street and the surrounding area have no shortage of places to eat and drink before the show - the street itself has several bars and restaurants, and St Stephen’s Green is a short walk if you want somewhere to sit before the gates open. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
