Bonniconlon Agricultural Show 2026

Bonniconlon is a small North Mayo village, but on August Bank Holiday Monday its showgrounds fill with around 30,000 visitors, making it one of the better-attended one-day agricultural shows in the west of Ireland.

What to Expect

The show is built around traditional livestock and produce competitions: cattle, sheep, horses and farm produce are judged across the 200-acre showgrounds, alongside home industries and trade stands covering everything from machinery to crafts. Equestrian show jumping and gymkhana classes run through the day on a dedicated ring, drawing competitors from well beyond Mayo. The show carries a prize fund of €60,000, which helps explain both the volume of entries and the standard of competition. Beyond the judging rings, the day is pitched as family entertainment, and the scale of the grounds means there is room for children’s attractions alongside the working farm sections without the site feeling crowded.

Getting There

Bonniconlon is on the R315 between Ballina and Sligo, about 16km northeast of Ballina. Free parking is provided with a complimentary shuttle bus running from the parking areas to the showgrounds on Grove Road, worth using given the volume of traffic into such a small village on the day. Bus Éireann’s Ballina services are the nearest public transport, with a car or taxi needed for the final leg to Bonniconlon itself.
