Iontas Arts and Community Centre in Castleblayney hosts a car boot sale on the last Saturday of the month from March through to October, one of the more established car boot sales in County Monaghan. Sellers set up in the grounds from 7.30am and the sale opens to the public at 9am, running until around 1pm. Entry is free for buyers, while sellers pay a small fee per vehicle. No advance booking is needed on either side, though dates are subject to confirmation with the venue in the weeks beforehand.
Expect the usual car boot sale mix: secondhand household goods, clothes, tools, books, bric-a-brac and the occasional genuine find, sold directly from the boots of parked cars and vans across the Iontas grounds. Sellers pay €10 for a car space or €15 for a van, with no need to pre-book a pitch. Because the sale only runs March to October, it lines up with the milder months rather than the depths of winter, and because it shares its last-Saturday slot with the separate Monaghan Farmers and Country Market held at the town’s livestock mart, regular visitors often treat a last Saturday in Castleblayney as a two-stop bargain-hunting morning rather than a single outing.
Iontas is on Connabury in Castleblayney, close to the town centre, with car parking on site for both sellers and buyers. Castleblayney sits on the N2 between Monaghan town and Dublin, with Bus Éireann services stopping in the town on routes to Dublin and to Monaghan and Derry.
